A wee bird

Thinking of the bird photos in my archive I settled on this lovely little chap, taken in May 2011 out at Whistlers Rest.  It is a Jacky Winter.

  1. I've never heard of a Jack Winter, but he is very brave sitting on the barb wire.

    1. I had never heard of them either but when I researched the bird that is what I found its name to be.

    1. Birds seem to love to balance on fences and overhead wires.

  3. I like that I managed to get so close to get the sparkle in his/her eye.

  5. Great capture, Joan. It's not a bird I recall seeing before, even though Bird Life says it is 'widely distributed in mainland Australia.' The barbed wire adds another dimension (especially the angle you've shot it).

    1. I have not seen one before or since but perhaps I have dismissed them as sparrows. It is only when I get a good shot I can do the proper identification.
