Autumn in the Gardens - Rose Orchard Haus Flowers

We have had a few light frosts but I am expecting heavy frost any day now.  For the last two years the tree dahlia has flowered and within a week there has been heavy frost that turned the whole plant black.  I will enjoy it while it lasts.

The bulbs of the moment are nerines - in white and pink.

The gazanias have been flowering all summer and are still holding strong as are the marigolds.

Down in the meadow the Californian poppy is looking pretty.

And there are still enough roses to fill my vases.

    1. I love the floral delights of this garden. Has more sunshine than the mountains so grows different things.

    1. They are amazing how BIG they get from the fresh start each year. Mine is sure to be finished when I get back out to Kandos, cold weather is predicted for next week.

    1. I am ever grateful for the lady who planted out this garden. So many roses in particular. I think I got the formula right for them this year ... more feeding and more water.

  5. I am yet to learn how to successfully grow roses but I live in hope :-)

    1. An annual prune (not too heavy if you want lots of blooms rather than high quality blooms) plenty of sunshine, deep watering once a week and feeding 3 times a year seems to do the trick.

  6. Yes this is still a good time for the roses but my poppies have long gone. It's amazing how much colour there is still to be found with winter just a week away 🌺

    1. I think this poppy might still be flowering because I spread the seed so late. The lady who planted this garden obviously had an eye for year round colour. It won't be long now before we are seeing jonquils to brighten the bare winter beds.
