Nature's Seaside Garden

Spotted gum forest
I am not at home in my own gardens this week so here is what is happening in natures garden around me. In the hinterland the forests are majestic Spotted Gums with Burrawangs (a type of cycad) growing in the understory.

Nearer the coast is beautiful green grassland rolling right to the sea cliffs.

Farmland around Milton

At the seaside the stunted and windblown trees currently have banksias in flower.

  3. It looks nice and green there. We have just had some rain so things are greening up here too.

    1. It was looking a little bit dry (but still very green). I am sure the extra rain would have been welcome. Glad you are getting rain up your way.

    1. It has sure been good to get out of my own garden and not have to be constantly doing stuff which happens during the summer harvest.

    1. This particular variety is autumn flowering. I would find them in flower if I went for a walk in the mountains too.

    1. That was the plan. I know I prefer the south coast to the north so looked up the web and found a caravan park with a view that was not too far south. It has worked out great. What did we do before the web!

  8. Your second shot particularly appeals to me. Place names travel- I lived in the countryside west of Toronto, and one of the nearby towns was called Milton.

    1. They are an Australian native flower, found by the seaside and in our bushland settings near the coast .. not in central Australia.

  10. The banksia looks vaguely familiar to me. I wonder if I've seen it in California.
Lovely photos. It looks like a beautiful area to visit.

    1. California would have the right climate for it, just like it does for gum trees.
