A reminder

View from Fletchers Lookout
It was a lovely sunny crisp day so I went for a walk to remind myself why I love living in the Blue Mountains.

A book I have read recently
iGen - why todays super connected kids are growing up less rebellious, more tolerant, less happy - and completely unprepared for adulthood by Jean M Twenge.  It is about kids born after 1995 and the impact of technology and today's obsession with safety. Having spent my working life in IT and love my iPhone, though not so keen on social media (except blogs of course) I found this an engrosing read.

  1. Hi Joan, sorry I've been offline. I forgot to add your new site to my blog feed. I see that you've been very prolific though.

Yes, today's youngsters are very aware but lack practical experience and resilience. That's the price of growing up with smart technology and thinking everything is instantly attainable.

    1. No probs. I figured you hadn't updated your feed. I am posting daily now so probably a bit much to take in but on Wednesday's I include a section on a book I have read, which you may find interesting since I know you are a reader.

  2. That's a view to take one's breath away Elizabeth, magnificent! Certainly the world today is very much different from even fifty years back, not everything for the better.

    1. I guess when we age we have the advantage of multiple world views and the ability to pick and choose like enjoying the benefits of a smart phone and the pleasure of a old wood stove.
