Australian White Ibis
I have spent so much time in Sydney lately I decided that my bird post this week should be the ubiquitious bird of the city -- the Australia White Ibis aka Bin Chicken.
I don't mind them either but I don't live in the city where there are zillions of them and I've never seen them in the mountains. I guess the poor things have the misfortunate of not being the prettiest of birds.
This may be a common bird for you but it's very interesting to see from here in the northern hemisphere. We don't have any sort of ibis in the Pacific Northwest.
Yes it is interesting to see the different birds around the world. I was surprised to discover in a blog that pelicans are brown in America whereas they are white here. Our swans are black but they are white in Europe.
Great name, 'Bin Chicken'
ReplyDeleteNot my name of course. Have you seen this spoof video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4dYWhkSbTU
DeleteWe have quite a few ibises on farm too. I don't mind them at all.

DeleteI too have been down in Sydney lately and have taken many photos of these lovely birds in the Royal Botanical Gardens. They are very photogenic!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to you publishing some of your shots. Maybe we can rescue them from their bad reputation.
