Red Wattlebird
I haven't shown much from our bush block at Clandulla so here is one to improve the balance. There are always lots of birds out there but I often don't have to time to sit patiently and capture their images.
We have the Red Wattlebirds in our backyard all the time. They completely dominate our Grevillea bushes and won't let any other birds in. Once I saw an Eastern Spinebill in there, but not for long. It was soon chased out!
Such a lovely capture Joan. I have been taking part in the Aussie Backyard bird count this week. Alas, all my usual birds seem to have gone on holiday.
The distinguishing feature of this bird is the red wattle At the end of its cheek patch.
I am glad you are enjoying the birds. I am doing my best to post a different one each Saturday. There are no shortage of them but I need to have my camera with me and be close enough for a good shot.

ReplyDeleteThey are a bit of a pest that way. We do have them in all of our gardens but fortunately not in such numbers that they push out the little guys.

ReplyDeleteI was going to do the count but didn’t find the time. I did sit and look at the birds but didn’t do any counting.
DeleteQuite a pretty little bird.
ReplyDeleteShe doesn’t have a pretty voice though.
DeleteI love seeing your birds. They're quite different from what we commonly see.
