Native flowers

Brachyscome
I have been neglecting to show the delights of the bush garden, partly because I have been busy in the other two gardens but also because of the drought there has not been the expected spring wildflower display for the past two years.  Since there has been some recent rain I decided to scrounge around their normal haunts to see what might have been persuaded to flower.

Pea flowers, climbing and crawling but not with their normal bounty.

Little white flowers

Some bright spots of yellow.

And the loud hum of bees made me look up and see the gum tree is in flower.

  1. I love all the little native flowers. I did a course a few years' ago at Wentworth Falls TAFE and we used to go into the bush and do field studies. I absolutely loved it.

    1. That sounds like fun. I have just used field guides to identify mine.

    1. I have been amazed at the diversity in our little patch. This is a poor showing for this time of year though. In a good year I would also find donkey orchids, slipper orchards, dianella flowers, lomandra, bacon and eggs, apple berry, three types of paper daisy, rice flower, bottlebrush, bluebells and others like goodinea, fringe lily, daisy bush, mistletoe and various grasses coming later. Perhaps some of them will still appear.

  3. Isn't nature a miracle.. no matter what the weather there are always the resilient plants that push their way up through the soil. I planted a small cottage garden bed today, pink geraniums, lavender, lilac, white daises, some tall reds and whites and a few other bits and pieces, looking forward to it growing and mixing 🌼🌸💮

    1. Unlike in Western Australia where Grace lives our flowers are very shy. Just a little one here and there rather than a big splendid carpet of colour but when you look close there are lots and lots of different ones at this time of year.

  5. You found many delights in your garden Joan. So pretty. Isn't it lovely how the bees let you know about the gum blossoms. Enjoy the rest of your week :D)

  6. How nice that you found a decent selection. I especially like that second white flower with the red circle marking in its center.

  7. It is pretty. Only a small flower (about a qtr inch across). It grows inbetween the clumps of kangaroo grass.
