The wait is over

Food court, Sydney Central Railway Station
In September 2015 there as a fire in the Central Station food court and it was closed down.  Just about ever since then it has been boarded up with signs saying "Coming Soon".  We have been waiting and waiting and last week were thrilled to see it has reopened.  Since we pass through Central station frequently and Blue Mountains trains typically run only once an hour it is nice to be able to grab a bite to eat some times.  Very happy.

    1. Yes it has been beautifully restored. I read an article about all of the work they put into restoring those sandstone carvings.

  2. Oh that is good news. Like you we often travel down to Sydney on the train from the Mountains and like to get a bite to eat at Central. We'll be down there again in a couple of weeks for a doctor's appointment, so good to know the food court has finally re-opened.

    1. There is still a new restaurant called Eternity to open. I thought it was some wag putting Eternity on the Coming Soon sign.

  4. Destruction by fire is such a mess, but the restoration is very good. One would never guess what had happened.

    1. I am not sure how extensive the fire was. I think it was only in the kitchen but smoked things up a bit so it seemed like a good idea to close it all down and refurbish.

    1. I guess it needs to be sophisticated. It took them forever to do it and will have to last a long time before the next refurb.
