Cattle on a thousand hills

We have spent the last week "Sweet Wayfaring" in Northern NSW/Queensland.  We usually avoid the north at this time of year because it is too hot and humid, but we had a funeral to attend so decided to make the most of it, and fortunately the weather was kind.

We made our central base the town of Casino which is the regional hub of a very large cattle industry and claims to be the "Beef Capital" of Australia.

Reflection:
Psalm 50:9-12 New International Version (NIV)
"I have no need of a bull from your stall
or of goats from your pens,
for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.
If I were hungry I would not tell you,
for the world is mine, and all that is in it."

  1. I think our weather would have been fairly kind to you. Just love this rural scene you have captured.

  2. I’m surprised by how green it is. Let’s hope it stays that way for a bit longer.

    1. Yes isn’t the green amazing. They have have good rain recently. I checked the drought map and this area is listed as “recovering”.

  3. I'm sorry for your loss.
The weather may be unkind but it looks like beautiful country. It's a nice shot.

    1. The shot was grabbed from the window of the car as we were moving along so I am pleased it worked out well. The weather was actually not too bad, quite warm but not super hot and humid like it can be. Also the one tropical storm skirted around us dumping a lot of rain but no hail which was good because there was no cover for our car and van.

  4. That's a scene that would translate well into a rural painting don't you think Joan Elizabeth ✨

    1. Yes it could make a nice painting. Now you mention it there is an Australian painting of dairy cows in morning light that is a little bit reminiscent of this scene.

    1. All the more pleasant because it is not drought stricken.
