More like home

We were on our way back from Queensland and in contrast to the image I showed last Sunday here is what the view out the car window was like this week. To me this landscape feels much more like home.

I always find coastal Queensland a bit of shock, everything is so green, the rainforests so dense, it's so hot and the air is so thick with humidity.  For a while until I acclimatise it seems almost as strange as a foreign land.

Reflection:
Ephesians 2:17-19 New International Version (NIV)
"He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household."

  1. I like how Australia can give you very different experiences like that. That's how I feel when I go to somewhere in northern
    Or central Australia.

    1. I totally agree. I haven’t been to the far north but the centre is certainly alien in a beautiful way.

  2. I haven't been to Queensland for a long while. I think the heat would be too much, especially in summer. My parents always loved holidaying on the Gold Coast every year. I think they liked to feel the warmth of the sun.

    1. We are Queenslanders by birth so go back for family reasonably often but I try hard to only visit in the winter when the warmth is very much appreciated.

  3. I haven't been to Queensland but I always imagine it to be tropically green and lush. Your shot here is exactly like WA in summer. It was wonderful to get some unexpected rain today, not looking forward to the long dry spell ✨

    1. Your weather patterns seem to be quite different to ours. Winter is our driest time and brightens up with spring rain. Nonetheless the land does dry off once the heat sets in. In Queensland they have amazing tropical storms on summer afternoons. There was one when we were up there. I didn’t get a shot because we were too busy battening down the hatches of the van. Fortunately it skirted around us and we only got wind and rain not hail.

  4. Such a very long time - 1995 - I´ve been to Queensland.
    Sweet memories, though.
There was a tiny place where they had "petit pain" at Coles and we stayed for that a day longer :-)

    1. Such a long time since I visited Germany. 1983 I think and even then just a fleeting visit on the grand tour of Europe.

    2. That is a long time ago indeed - there were still "two Germanies"...

    3. Yes but we didn't see the wall. We only went to Munich if I remember rightly.

  5. Beautiful shot- I like the contrast between sky and ground.

    1. This area is still very drought affected. I guess the clouds were a welcome sight to locals.

  6. Typical countryside. Dry and blue. West of the ranges in QLD can look like that but yes the coast is greener and more humid.

    1. West of the ranges in Qld certainly does look similar. When we drive up the Newell Highway it is more or less like that all of the way until we start to head towards the coast.

  7. This looks very mild and peaceful. Beautiful!
