Old Stuff 17


I love the vintage front door in our back-in-time house at Kandos.  And look at the retro boomerang handle on the linen cupboard.  I will paint that brown cupboard one day.

      The pattern is a combo of the door and the fly screen.

    It is beautiful, but it looks so "fragile" - is this the door into your house? Here it would be a door inside only...

      Yes it is the door to our house. I guess the glass could be considered a security risk but there is a metal fly screen locked in front of the glass door. The door is not at all fragile.

      I would not feel safe here, but the metal sure helps - and it is just beautiful (you just cannot hide, though!).

      I don’t worry about hiding. It is in a quiet street in a small town (1500 people ).

      I think this type of door is quite common in mid-century houses. There a whole suburbs of houses like this in Sydney but it is quite unique in Kandos.

    A nice effect with the outer and inner doors together. And I wonder if you'd ever be able to find another handle like the one on your linen cupboard.

      Retro has become very popular as a decorating style so I am sure there would be reproduction handles available.

    That is indeed a beautiful door. We need a new front door as ours rattles in the wind and drives me mad at night.

      A door that rattles would not be pleasant. There is usually a breeze blowing at this house but no rattles thank goodness.
