Little Corella |
This is another bird I photographed when we were in the campsite at Casino. I have often seen large flocks of Corellas noisily circling around inland rivers but have not caught I nice close up like this. I didn't know they had such a noticable eye patch.
Participating today in the City Daily Photo theme day - Joy.
Good idea for the theme---your own joy at watching birds. I like that. That is quite an eye patch---maybe a pirate birds--haha

Pirate birds an interesting concept. I don't think they are as destructive as Cockatoos.
DeleteAh, one of my favourite pastimes - photographing birds. I find them endlessly fascinating. I put many of my bird photos on instagram and even have my own hashtag where I have posted over 100 birds this year.
ReplyDeleteLet me know the hashtag so I can check them out!

DeleteThank you ... an impressive collection. I am not much into instagram but will check it out every now and then.
DeleteJoyful.
ReplyDeleteThe onset of summer always makes me joyful. 😀
DeleteA gorgeous image. I admire your patience. I always seem to be ready to click and they fly away!
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Me too. I am just lucky sometimes.
DeleteWhat a pretty bird!
ReplyDeletePretty but a bit noisy when the flock is large.
DeleteBirdwatching is lots of fun, you need patience also, that's a wee bit of a problem for me 😀 love your little corella Joan Elizabeth, I miss them since I took down the bird trays.. might have to put them back up ✨
ReplyDeleteNot so much patience as laziness sitting in a chair watching the world go by.
DeleteOh, I love to watch my little birdies munching away in front of my window where we put up a little "café" for them.
ReplyDeleteJust tits and here they look like this.
Your tits are beautiful. I would love to have them at my window.
DeleteCorellas are sooo very noisy.... and a little bit destructive too!
ReplyDeleteYes noisy when in a crowd but as I am usually camped by a river when I hear them I am happy to take them in my stride. I figured that beak might make them a bit destructive.
DeleteLovely to see this closeup of the Corella Joan. We've seen them in the outback in flocks - beautiful! Enjoyed your photo :D)
ReplyDeleteOn this occasion there were just two of them and clearly used to humans. They let me get very close.
DeleteLovely capture of this beauty!
ReplyDeleteI have tried to get them many times over the years. This is the first time they have been so cooperative.
DeleteI understand your joy. What a great looking bird! It almost looks like it's sculpted...from marshmallow or perhaps ice cream.
ReplyDeleteYour mention of marshmallow reminds me of the time I bought a marshmallow rabbit from a street stall and popped it into the glove box of the car for safe keeping from prying eyes so as to not encourage a break in. I promptly forgot about it and because we were living in a very hot climate at the time (PNG) it melted. A day or so later I remembered when I saw the sticky ooze dripping into the car. What a mess!
