Thriving on neglect
In our Kandos garden there are several baskets of succulents hanging under the orange trees left by the previous owner. I have given them absolutely no attention and they are nonetheless rewarding me with lovely flowers at the moment.
Being a lazy gardener from way back I should have discovered these earlier. But then again, being a lazy gardener I usually depend on the garden predecessors to have chosen the plants.
These are Epiphyllums and zygocactus. Mine also thrive on neglect and every year they reward me with beautiful blooms.
ReplyDeleteOoo I didn’t know their names. Thanks.
DeleteVery pretty! Some plants left to their own devices do quite well for themselves.
ReplyDeleteIt is lucky these seem to like drought conditions.
DeleteSuch vibrant colors - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI think so too😀
DeleteZygos are really tough plants. Consequently as lazy gardeners we have a few baskets too.

DeleteDitto above comments re the hardiness of the zygocactus. Ours usually flower May / June.
ReplyDeleteWe had another succulent that had a different flower in bloom in that timeframe.
DeleteIsn't that amazing Joan Elizabeth, the blooms are so exotic looking you would imagine they needed a lot of looking after ✨
ReplyDeleteI was amazed. Isn't nature wonderful.
