A book I have read recently
I have added another classic to my American list. This time The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I was hooked from the first paragraphs describing devastating drought and the impact of poor farmers. These were people I was going to be able to take into my heart.
This view reminds me of a "scenic point" in Alice Springs. Great lookout. Behind the shopping centre... At least you could see where Pizza Hut was (I was hungry). Always try to see the good, no?

DeleteYes it is disappointing, but not much that can be done about it. The view is a bit far away and would be best if the Cultural Centre was there at Echo Point!
ReplyDeleteIt would be good at Echo Point. The interesting thing is that when you drive down the hill to the car park there is quite a nice view. One that always makes me happy to live here. But somehow that is lost from this vantage point.
DeleteI had to read that at school. Shame about the super market spoiling the view.
ReplyDeleteThat surprises me. The only American reading they gave us was easy stuff like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. But I remember now you went to school in NSW.

DeleteAt least it's not a six story office tower blocking the view entirely.

DeleteClearly the best views are for the farsighted.
ReplyDeleteOr the fit who can face up to a longish walk (or short drive) to the cliff edge at Echo Point. I must pop down there one day to show you the view.
