I have never planted sunflowers before so it is exciting to see the first flower emerge from it's tall stalk. Eventually there will be a whole row of them against the garage wall.
We are currently harvesting lemons -- lots and lots of lemons.
That's a very pretty first sunflower Joan. I've often thought of growing them and never got around to it! Lots of lemony things going on at your place :D) Lovely!
I just remembered the big Van Gogh painting of sunflowers at Emerald in Qld. Check it out here http://sweetwayfaring.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-next-big-thing.html
What a beauty! Aren't they cheerful? I want to grow more of them this year than last. And the birds love them late in the season, too, so don't yank them when they appear spent.

They get children to grow them so I figured I should have a chance of success.
DeleteI've never grown sunflowers. They always remind me of the artist Vincent Van Gogh.

So much sunshine eminating from this bloom. A basket of lemons with a sunflower beside would make for a lovely image.
ReplyDeleteBut the sunflower is too tall๐
DeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it William.
DeleteI love sunflowers. Beautiful and easy-going.
ReplyDeleteEasy-going or easy-growing. Probably both.
DeleteSunflowers are such happy summer flowers Joan Elizabeth, I hope we get to see that row along the garage wall when they're all up and blooming ๐
ReplyDeleteHoping to see them today when we go out there.

ReplyDeleteI think it was your blog that inspired me to give them a go. Thanks for the advice regarding the seeds.
