Great capture, Joan. It's not a bird I recall seeing before, even though Bird Life says it is 'widely distributed in mainland Australia.' The barbed wire adds another dimension (especially the angle you've shot it).
I have not seen one before or since but perhaps I have dismissed them as sparrows. It is only when I get a good shot I can do the proper identification.
I've never heard of a Jack Winter, but he is very brave sitting on the barb wire.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of them either but when I researched the bird that is what I found its name to be.
DeleteFunny place he choose for a break!
ReplyDeleteBirds seem to love to balance on fences and overhead wires.
DeleteI like that I managed to get so close to get the sparkle in his/her eye.
ReplyDeleteJacky Winter.. suits him Kay 😊 it's amazing the seemingly impossible spots birds choose to perch 😱
ReplyDeleteI think this was taken on a winter morning too .
