Playing the Piano

Today's photo is to match this week's book. I enjoy playing the piano, it is relaxing.

A book I have read recently
Girls at the Piano by Virginia Lloyd is a memoir with a difference, in that it follows the stories of Virginia and her grandmother who were both talented musicians who chose different paths.  As a girl who learnt piano I found it a fascinating read, though it made me realise just how lacking I am in natural musical talent.

    1. I am glad I got a low set piano. It works better as a piece of furniture.

  2. Oh! I learned to play on our Steinweg (not Steinway), but I stopped at age 14, I am sad today I didn't keep it up and that my brother let's the instrument rot away... Steinweg started in my home town, Seesen, then went to where I live now, Braunschweig. And ended up in the US. (Grotrian-Steinweg).

    1. That is interesting about Steinweg. I stopped lessons when I was 17 but have played simple tunes on and off since so have kept my hand in a bit. My piano rots somewhat too, it needs a tune.

  3. This is a very nice image. Although I love music, I too lack musical talent.

    1. Talent is an interesting thing isn't it. I guess it is lucky that with a little bit of nurture even untalented people can make progress with and enjoy their chosen creativity though the true masters are few.

  4. I love to play my piano. I also compose music and find it very relaxing.
