I have taken almost no photos in the past week and have nothing to blog about, so have decided to do an 'archive week'.
We drive between Lawson and Kandos almost every week. I love this drive and still remember the excitement of the first time, stopping to take photo after photo of the delights I found. But for me once a journey becomes familiar it loses its photographic freshness even though the delight remains. So please join me in enjoying these places again through my early photos.
This image of an old building between Capertee and Ilford was taken in December 2009. Today it still stands but has been tidied up somewhat. The blackberry is gone and the roof and doors repaired so today it's not quite as appealing photographically.
Reflection:
Psalm 143:5 New International Version (NIV)
"I remember the days of long ago;
I meditate on all your works
and consider what your hands have done."
Many archive photos deserve a second showing Joan Elizabeth. It's funny how old decrepit things are more photogenic, but also good that someone is showing the old place some love ✨
ReplyDeleteI found an old building yesterday that is clearly beyond love. So I agree that some timely restoration before things go too far is a good thing.
DeleteI'm quite surprised that this one would have been restored.
ReplyDeleteStone buildings are unusual on farms around here so worth restoring I think.
DeleteI agree with Grace, yet these days I have sooooo many photos I don't know when to show it all!
ReplyDeleteI love tinned roofs. But I am glad to live in a modern house (the cabin here is OK as well, though).
Both of our houses have tinned roofs. They are not modern but many modern houses in Australia have them .... colourbond roofing so they don’t need painting.
DeleteI too find new places interesting to photograph. Fresh stimulation. Going through the archives is a good idea. I may borrow it if I'm stuck in snow for very long.
ReplyDeleteI am going through old photographic prints at the moment to cull them before our next removal to the new house. Digital is a much easier less cumbersome job.
