I am sure there is an object lesson in this. These plants have their feet in water. If I put more water on my other plants they would do better too.
The lilies above are at Burnbrae, in the meanwhile out at Rose Orchard Haus the crepe myrtle trees are flowering, the roses still doing well and dahlias beginning to flower too -- a burst of floral delight before Autumn arrives to shut summer down.
I love the little vase of pink flowers. The crepe myrtles have been great this year.
ReplyDeleteI have been noticing the crepe myrtles too. Though I thought it was because I am thinking of planting more along our side fence so have been observing their growth habits.
DeleteIt has been so dry here that the dahlias haven't done well. We usually have a garden full of them.
ReplyDeleteThat is a shame. We got hardly any last year for the same reason. I am thinking of planting more as there are only a couple of colours with the plants I have at present.
DeleteI can nearly smell it over here. And our grass here just gets some water, too!
ReplyDeleteThe only problem with water on grass is that is makes it grow which means it has to be mowed more often.
DeleteBeautiful floral displays. Your lilies are very pretty. That green edging on them is unusual to me.
ReplyDeleteUnusual to me too.
DeleteLove roses at this time of year, I find mine are really gorgeous in April. Crepe myrtle trees get really big don't they, I seem to remember that as the reason I didn't plant one in my back garden?
ReplyDeleteMine roses at at their best in the October spring flush but I am also hoping on a nice autumn one too ... have given them a feed to encourage new growth and buds.
DeleteCrepe Myrtles can be a smallish tree around 8 metres. But there are hybrids for smaller 3 metres trees and others at shrub height. The taller trees can be pruned back to keep them smaller. I have to do that with the ones at the front of my place because they are under power lines. I don't want to do that if I plant more in my yard.
These are pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe only plant that can survive my care is a cactus.
I have found to my delight that succulents look after themselves.
