Today's photo is chosen to match this week's book which of course I know is not THE hanging rock which is a mountain peak in inland Victoria.

I love the colour of sea splashing on the rocks.
A book I read recently
Another one on the Australian list Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay.
I saw the movie when it came out in the 1970s and I remember the haunting pan pipe music, old fashioned schoolgirls in white muslin dresses wandering about the Australian bush on a very hot day, the inconclusive ending and that it was boring.
I was rather hoping the book would be better and it was but for me was still tiresome.
I love and miss the ocean. Never heard of the book/movie, but once I´ve finished the laod I still have to read I´ll look into Australian books, hope they´re available for kindle, though...
ReplyDeleteI guess most of the important Australian books would be available on Kindle. I prefer actual books myself.
DeleteI have not read the book, but I agree with you that the movie was boring. Not much of a story, just some girls disappearing and no conclusion about their disappearance.
ReplyDeleteSome people says it is their all time favourite movie - beats me why.
DeleteI remember the name, but don't think I've seen the movie. It seems I haven't missed any masterpiece then :) Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteI looked it up on wikipedia and it is said to be "Australia's most loved movie".
DeleteIt also says according to Weir, "One distributor threw his coffee cup at the screen at the end of it, because he'd wasted two hours of his life—a mystery without a goddamn solution!"
Beautiful views!
ReplyDeleteThe sea is so revitalising.
DeleteThat really is a lovely image. All it lacks is an Oystercatcher or two!
ReplyDeleteI have tried to get a bird or two but not very successfully.
DeleteBeautiful coastal scenes Joan Elizabeth. Did you see the new version of Picnic at Hanging Rock. It was in a television serial format.. beautifully filmed with rather a surprising ending.
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't see the television version ... afraid to do so after the movie. A surprising ending, that's odd, I thought the claim to fame for this story was that it had no ending.
DeleteI remember the name of the movie and I think I may have seen it but I have trouble remembering movies from last year, never mind decades ago.
ReplyDeleteLove your coastline! Beautiful photos.
I have trouble remembering the story line of movies (and many books too). This one stuck because there was no story line to remember.
