Old Stuff 36

I love this apple set, a wedding gift from the 1970s.  I don't think I have ever used it for its planned purpose.  After languishing in my cupboard for years it now makes a nice vase and light catcher on my kitchen window sill.

  1. I think they were called water sets and usually comprised a jug or flagon with 5 or 6 matching glasses. I received 3 sets as wedding gifts in the 70's. I still have one set and occasionally use it. I think they were quite nice. I think you have found a good use for yours.

    1. Yeh this set has 6 glasses, but that was too many for the window sill. I also received three sets, this one, another I occasionally use and I have just donated the third one to the local op shop.

  2. Very pretty and 70's kitchen wares seem to be very much in fashion now. I've been collecting Pyrex for a while, but it's hard to come by. You've given your glasses and jug a good use.

    1. 70's kitchen wares are in fashion so I am sure that Op shop would have no trouble moving on my recent donations. Funnily enough I didn't have any 70s Pyrex.

    1. It's always fun to repurpose things. I am currently repurposing some old tables left by the previous occupant of the house.

    1. I have an old jug which I am currently using as a rose vase. I put it in the Op shop box then retrieved it because I thought it could still serve me in a different way.

  5. Oh my gosh I was looking at a set almost the same in an op shop just a few days ago, but in my minimalistic state of mind I came out empty handed 😊 this is the perfect way to use your set.

    1. Poor you. A kitchen window is compensation for the toiling cooking and cleaning that we do in the kitchen.
