It's time for a break from Autumn leaves. This beautiful creature is an introduced species and a pest but I can't help liking it right now.
I took this photo through the window of Farm View Cafe at Running Stream* where we often stop when travelling between Kandos and Lawson. The cafe under previous owners was called Foxwood Farm - perhaps this is why.
* Running Stream is a tiny hamlet on the road between the Blue Mountains and Mudgee. It is nothing more than the cafe, a closed one teacher school, a community hall and a little stone union church.
The fox is beautiful. I would love to visit this quaint cafe in its tiny hamlet.

DeleteI know they are pests but like yourself I find it so exciting to see one. I've only caught glimpses in the bush here but my husband, a much more avid bush walker, has seen them often. You were lucky to get such a super shot Joan Elizabeth ✨
ReplyDeleteMe too when I see them crossing the road, I don't them very often. On this day I was pleased when I saw it flash past when we entered the cafe. Later I saw someone taking a photo through the window and realised it had come back so got up and took a photo too.
DeleteBeautiful one! "Funny", here they are not a pest, yet I´ve never seen a wild one.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen them in urban areas but with the increase in keeping poultry in back yards people are aware of them being around.
DeleteFoxes are native to parts of the U.S. but they're generally not commonly seen. Perhaps because yours are introduced they don't have natural predators and so have increased in numbers and bravado. They really are quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes that is the problem, they have very few natural predators. Hence we have fox baiting and all sorts of programs to try in keep their numbers down.
