Projects and a short break

As I am running out of photos so will take a blog break for a while but before I do I thought would show a couple of my recent restoration projects.

The table above was a rusting frame left out in the garden by the previous owner.  A spray of paint and a new table top has given me a nice table for our entrance foyer -- a place to neatly store logs for the fire and the perfect spot to see if the rose vase needs another bloom before taking it inside.  We need those logs - winter arrived with a big blast this week.  I am glad we bought and stacked our annual wood supply last week.

This seat fell apart years ago and the metal ends have been junking up the yard.  So too have the verandah slats my brother gave me to use for firewood but I didn't use because they had paint on them. Drilling holes, a few new bolts and a lick of leftover paint and hey presto a pretty seat for under the apple tree.  Soon there will be no more leaves on the apple tree so it will be a place to bask in the winter sun.

  1. Wow I love those roses in the top photo. Yes, it has turned cold here in SE Qld with even colder weather to come. Unfortunately we no longer have a wood stove so will rug ourselves up to keep warm. It is probably worse where you are though. Enjoy your blog break.

    1. Today was better than yesterday when there was snow about. I am so glad to have a selection of roses so I choose what colour scheme I want to run with - yellows one week, pinks the next, all red or whatever.

  2. Beautiful roses and nice table and garden seat. Yes, it has certainly turned cold. It is icy here and the wind has just about brought down all the Autumn leaves. Have a nice break. I'm having a break too. Too cold to go on walks. We are heading up to Queensland in a few weeks to visit family. Looking forward to that.

    1. We usually head north in the winter too (have lots of family up that way being ex-Queenslanders) but have to wait for our caravan to be repaired this year. We can be happy knowing that yesterday was just about as cold as it gets even in the depths of winter so can expect it to get a little warmer (was warmer today).

    1. Just as long as it takes me to collect some more photos. I find I am a little boring because my life tracks around the same places all the time and I don't seem to have time to go seek images much at the moment.

  5. Well done on your restoring skills Joan Elizabeth 😉 Fresh garden roses are the best 🌹 so much better than store bought. Enjoy your break. I'm wondering how cold it is in the Blue Mountains in July?

    1. July is our coldest month so bring your winter woolies. Maximums around 10C, minimums around 2C. The good news is we typically know how to keep our houses warm so your accomodation should be cosy.

    1. Yeh snow. It was fluttering around but not settling. A bit of a shock because it was some warm up until now. We are hoping the caravan will be fixed in a few weeks time, soon enough for us to get away for 3-4 weeks before we have to be back for some medical appointments.

  8. Heard on the news about the winter blast in Victoria. We're lucky in Perth, still having up to about 25C during the day, down to about 10 overnight. Great projects, love the garden seat. We have a metal bench too that my husband picked up from a verge collection, but it's still awaiting renovation.

    1. I hope your bench doesn't languish as long as mine did. I had to wait until I retired to find the energy to do something with it.
