Forbes which is 33kms from Parkes is another quite sizeable town. It has elegant civic buildings and has kept more of its old town charm than Parkes.
What's growing in my gardens right now?
Burnbrae is fragrant with the perfume of daphne. At Rose Orchard Haus the japonica camellia is beginning to flower and paperwhite jonquils are cheerfully clustered at the trunks of trees.
An elegant building!
ReplyDeleteAnd here we have summer and I still wait for my poppies to bloom!
Those poppies had better get moving. I am already looking forward to the end of Winter here.
DeleteMy Daphne bush died! We had a tree cut down and the consequent sun on the nearby garden was too much for the Daphne, as they like shade.
ReplyDeleteYes mine is in the shade of the big pine tree. There was also one at the front of the house front which is quite shaded but it died for some unknown reason ... probably lack of water.
DeleteWhat a lovely old building.
ReplyDeleteThey don't make them like that any more. But then again there are people who love only modern architecture.
DeleteBeautiful architecture!
ReplyDeleteI think so.
DeleteWhat a beautiful old building. I just explored other Forbes photos on the internet (I was curious to find out the age of the town hall -- 1891). It looks as if it may be a city that floods from time to time?
ReplyDeleteYes it does flood in the curious behaviour of Australia where we can have searing droughts than big rains up north that come down the river channels and flood things.
