Parkes is also famous for its radio telescope which along with other Australian telescopes assisted in the moon walk coverage 50 years ago. Did you view the moon walk on that day?

My hubby was four years old, it was around 3:00 am, when his parents dragged him out of bed to watch. He thought it was a comic :-)
ReplyDeleteI was born later.
I remember being dragged out of bed at that time of morning by my Dad to see a comet. I am glad he did because there has never been anything as spectacular in our skies since.
DeleteI remember watching the moon landing. I was working in the city and went out to watch it on a TV in the electrical department of a department store. It was quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteThose were the days when the electrical stores had lots of TVs playing in the windows and TV starved people like I was as a kid gawking at them. I guess that day had a lot of people gawking.
DeleteI was working. I think I tuned in on the radio.
ReplyDeleteI remember it was quite boring. It would have been more so without visual.
DeleteAn impressive telescope. It was years before my birth.
ReplyDeleteYou missed out on a treat.
