I'm in awe

I am well aware of the sun getting higher and lower in the sky with the seasons but until I moved here hadn't much thought of the movement of the sun horizontally with the seasons.  It is now tracking back across the horizon and for the past couple of nights set right behind the mountain in the distance.
No clouds, no rain.

A book I have read recently
I read Riders in the Chariot by Patrick White because it was on the Australian list and was rather looking forward to it because on reading Tree of Man by White a year ago I was blown away by his writing.  This one didn't disappoint - the four characters with their intertwined lives were wonderful.  I am in awe.

  1. We has a little rain here today after a very dry couple of months so we saw clouds for the first time in ages. It was nice for a change.

    1. I'm glad you have had some rain. We have been having a bit of rain recently in the mountains but it is not travelling further west so still very dry in Kandos.

  2. Terrific shot!

Here we're starting to see the sun's relative position on the horizon moving towards winter status with its place at dawn and dusk varying from where it was at the height of summer.

    1. Right now I would be depressed at the thought of entering winter, I am so looking forward to Spring/Summer.

  3. Beautiful.
Days are getting shorter now, it makes me rather sad... but... that´s life!
I´m reading about Tuesday, a Golden Retriever (what a name for a dog!) who helped a soldier recovering.

    1. I don't think I have read many "animal" books. The only one I can think of is The Call of the Wild by Jack London.

As for naming a dog Tuesday that is no sillier than Price Waterhouse Coopers renaming themselves as Monday.

  4. I don't notice the shift of the sun so much as the moon rising. We have a 180 degree view east and when waiting for that near and full moon to rise, we almost miss its 1st glow as we are looking in the wrong direction.

I have just read almost a week of your lovely posts. Beautiful. I wish I could stay on track.

  5. I become aware of the sideways tracking of the sun from the way it shines in my study window. Its great to get into a good book.

    1. Sun in your study window sounds very nice. Regarding good books, I am finding my measure of "good" has been changing. Previously it would have been a good page turning story, not it is slower more luxurious writing.

  6. Looks amazing the way the setting sun is giving the mountain a golden lining 💛

    1. Cloudless sky with a gold lining, rather than clouds with silver lining.

  7. And you'll be getting longer days as ours get shorter. I'm aware of so many different things now that we're away from cities. I love watching the sky.

    1. I agree the city clutters up the sky and turns off the stars. A vibrant sky is one of the joys of leaving the city behind.
