I'm smiling

This mural by Michael Lynn under the railway bridge at Hazelbrook always makes me smile.  It's based on a photograph of Terrace Falls in 1904 .  It's photo realistic but wasn't the world black and white back then?

It's a long time since since I walked to these falls and a bit too strenuous for me to do it again ... a shame because it is a lovely waterfall.

Participating in Mural Monday at Sami's Colourful World.

  1. This is surely a difficult one!
Is it black and white? Back then or now? Does it fade?

    1. Photographs were in black and white back then so the artist while he worked with the original image must have interpreted the colours. Check out this link ... it is another mural by the same artist in Katoomba also based on a photograph but this time in Black and White

  2. I remember doing that walk a few years' ago now. It's sad to think we couldn't do it now. It is so beautiful to walk through the bush. I doubt I would have appreciated it as much as I would now!

    1. I too would appreciate it more if I went today. But when I went down that way some years ago the access road is cut off so there is now quite a long walk down it before you even start the walk to the falls so definitely off my list.

    1. It is so like the bush around here. That is why I smile when I see it.

    1. We live in a very special part of the world. Perhaps I should show more of it in my blog. The trouble is I have been blogging for over 10 years and feel as if I have done it all before in my bluemountainsjournal.

  7. That is a charming mural Joan. So much detail in the painting.
What a beautiful spot it must be in real life.

    1. Yes it is easy to see. It is an underpass which you can see from the main highway which goes right past it.
