Metro

Even though we had the best part of a week in Sydney the most exciting thing we did was catch the new Metro train.  It has a very different seating configuration ... reminds me of the London Tube.

I noticed one thing of real difference from the country is the number of mirrors in the city.  They are everywhere, in lifts, in shops, reflections in building glass, wardrobe doors.  All of them showing my full length profile with nowhere to hide and convince myself I am not putting on weight.  Crikey, at the hotel there was a full length mirror opposite the clear glass of the shower ... not an encouraging sight.

  1. I like the depth to this shot.

Our LRT just opened a few days ago, but I have no idea when or if I'll get on it, as it doesn't really go anywhere I need to get to.

    1. Actually I don't know if this is considered Light Rail - there is light rail within the CBD and nearby suburbs. The metro is a high speed driverless train.

  2. That certainly looks fresh and new. I don't think I've ever seen any sort of new transit like that. (Mirrors stopped being my friend sometime after I retired. No, not encouraging.)

    1. Yes it is very new. Has only been open a few months so no time for wear and tear yet. This is of course unlike my body which has plenty of wear and tear.

  3. The other week I went on a new tram and had to ask where to "devalure" the ticket (we still have paper) !
Yes. The pre-owners installed a huge mirror in front of the shower. "Luckily" I am short-sighted!

    1. I love the Opal Card which lets us jump on and off suburban trains, inter city trains, light rail, metro, buses and ferries all on the one card.

Your pre-owners must have been real young.

  4. Your new Metro train has seats like ours Joan Elizabeth.. oh the worst mirrors are the mirrors in changing rooms, which doesn't make any sense.. if they had mirrors that slimmed and made one look taller they would make so many more sales 😁😁

    1. That reminds me of a free standing full length mirror I had once. It was distorted ... made me look slim ... a wondrous thing,

  5. I haven't been on the Metro yet, but it sounds pretty cool. Our son caught it last night after work to visit Ken in Macquarie University Hospital (nothing serious). There is actually a train station for the University! I love sneaking a look at myself in a mirror along the street, not that I like what I see, but just to check that everything is in place and that I'm not looking too weird.

    1. The metro is great, sleek and fast with services every 10 minutes. The University train station is also the station for Macquarie Shopping centre.
