Last blossom

This is the last of the spring blossoms at Burnbrae.  I think these Cherry Blossoms are about the loveliest of them all.  They appear so much later than the rest of the spring blossom it was many many years before I even noticed them!  Having discovered them I now look forward to their appearance each year.

  1. They are beautiful - and much, much bigger than ours.

    1. This is a double cherry blossom, flowering not fruiting. I checked the web and there are apparently over 100 different types of cherry tree. Anything with over five petals is a Yaezakura and flowers later. This one looks like it might be the Kanzan variety because it has frilly pink flowers and the fresh leaves are coppery brown.

    1. Similar to the ones down the centre of Leura mall. I notice the ones on the left side going down are an earlier flowering variety.

  4. They are really gorgeous Joan. Blossoms seem to add the extra little oomph to the garden at this time of year!
