Dancing puddles

Throughout this very hot dry summer our Kandos garden has been stressed but the mountain garden was doing OK (it still had greenish grass). But when we returned  a week or so ago I was shocked to find many of the plants suddenly in a bad state -- big trees and shrubs were going brown, had their leaves turned down or were dropping their leaves.

With tight water restrictions only allowing watering with a watering can or bucket it was going to be impractical to get around our large garden.

Then this week everything changed.  The heavens opened.

And the puddles danced with joy - our prayers answered.  The rain is also helping to put out the fires.

P.S. I am going to try and post to this blog and visit your blogs on Sundays.

  1. The rain couldn't have come at a better time for you, and your area, that's wonderful news Joan.
We're only getting a smattering atm, however, every bit helps and tomorrow may well be a better story :D) xx

    1. It has certainly been great in the mountains. At Kandos we are in the "every smattering" helps a little category.

  3. Great photos of the rain, just what was needed but a bit late for the flowers, but they will come good next year! We have had a small amount of rain, and every little bit helps.

    1. Agapanthus are flowering in the mountains garden ... it takes a lot for them to give up.

    1. As the farmers say each day is one day closer to rain. We are still waiting for that day out west but things are looking good in the mountains.

  5. So good to see the rain, I just hope our trees recover. So many of them have dropped all their leaves.

    1. None of ours dropped ALL of their leaves so I am fairly confident of recovery. I hope yours do OK.
