Unlike at Burnbrae (our Blue Mountains garden) the rain is taking its time reaching further west.
I have been watching this newly dug dam beside the road between our home at Kandos and our bush block at Clandulla. Some light rain last week started its first puddle of water, I wonder how long it will be before it fills right up.
Here is the current state of Whistlers Rest, our bush block - very dry and cleaned up of bark and undergrowth in preparation for the bushfires.
We have been seeing rain storms skirt around us. Yesterday at Mudgee we experienced a big downpour so were watching these grey clouds on our way home hoping they would deliver. The result was a very short sharp storm. Maybe today will be our day.
Windamere Dam is currently 26.9% full which isn't too bad and the good thing is many parts of Australia are now getting welcome rain - we are optimistic for good rainfall sometime soon.
Your bush block looks nicely cleared.
ReplyDeleteIt was a LOT of work.
DeleteOh I really hope you do get some decent rain Joan Elizabeth. You do usually get a fair bit of summer rain don't you? Whereas over here it is almost nil over summer ✨
ReplyDeleteMost of our rain falls November to March so still a couple of months left.
DeleteBest wishes for getting some more rain Joan.
ReplyDeleteYour block is looking good.
I rather liked it when it had bushy undergrowth but with the ongoing drought that clearly wasn't safe so had to clear it. I am pretty happy with the result. But it doesn't stay clear like that for long, every time I go out to the block there is another branch fallen and more and more leaves. I guess for here on I will do an annual clean up in the winter time.
DeleteHope it rains there soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping some will fall out that way this week.
DeleteThe water's low but your last photo is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI always love photography Lake Windemere. Over the years I have captured it at different times of day and various dam levels.
DeleteOptimism is a great post title. It sums up all three photos well. Like you, the rain has been skirting around us. It must be our turn soon, right? 🙂
ReplyDeleteWe remain optimistic. Maybe it will be our week this week.
DeleteHopefully the rains take effect there.
