Freedom

In NSW we are now free to roam any distance to visit family and friends.  This week I was delighted to drive to Mudgee.

On the road is the always beautiful Windemere Dam which is looking a bit dry but holding steady at 27% full.

We are now looking forward to June 1 when regional holidays are allowed and campgrounds open.  We are hoping to be able to make a much postponed Sweet Wayfaring caravan trip to one of our regional towns.

Despite things opening up we are being cautious and preferring to mostly keep to ourselves only visiting quiet country shops and family and staying away from the city places as much as medical appointments will allow.

How are you planning to "open up"?

  1. I think we can still only do day trips up to 150km here in Queensland. I don't mind as I rarely go out of town anyway. Cafes etc. can now serve 10 people so that's something. I don't think our state borders will be opening any time soon.

    1. I agree, I think the border is locked shut for a while yet as all of the commotion has made the premiers dig in. Today I hear Queenslanders can travel anywhere so hopefully that will make up some of the tourism dollars for so many struggling businesses. It is such a shame as is it southerners who want to travel to Queensland at this time of year and by the time the border opens it will be too hot for those of us accustomed to less heat and humidity.

  2. It's sad to see the dam so low but you caught some gorgeous reflections.
We are opening in "stages" here, depending on how prepared a region is to to testing and tracing. Our region is behind on staffing and supplies. In the U.S. so much is haphazard I'm intending to stay out of crowds as long as I can. I wish I could avoid upcoming appointments in Seattle but I really can't/shouldn't.

    1. It was a lovely sunny day so hence those lovely reflections. It's been a bit messy here too with general agreement on the stages but different states moving to different timelines and keeping their borders closed so impeding movement. We too want to stay away from the big city but appointments make it necessary. They are trying to keep the number of people on public transport low, if that works we will be OK. I will know in 2 weeks time when we next have to go that way.

  3. What beautiful reflections you have captured. It has just been announced today that we can now drive anywhere in Queensland and perhaps the border will open in July. like you, we will be taking things slowly for a some time to come.

    1. Yes that is a good news announcement. Even if the border opens I don't think we will be heading to Queensland this winter. I am also wondering how things will go in NSW. Will all of those caravans that usually plague Qld in the winter clutter up NSW this year and make is hard for us to find a quiet camping spot?

  4. Gorgeous reflections in the dam Joan Elizabeth, and so nice to travel further afield. I agree with you, it's going to take a while to feel comfortable being amongst a big crowd of people, it's been a while! I am looking forward to a country town visit, maybe next month 😊
