Sweet Wayfaring again at last

Before tackling the garden weeds and pruning we decided to take a short break.  I think a little trip away in winter is perfect for beating winter blues and we don't have to venture far to be a few degrees warmer than at home.

Royal Hotel Warren

We've set up camp in Gilgandra and, ever on the lookout for a new Royal Hotel to add to my Royal Collection, yesterday we took a drive in the rain to visit Warren.

It was so lovely to be back out in big sky country and even better to see the crops nice and green and canola getting ready to flower.  Such a contrast to how things looked in the central west this time last year (see below).

  1. Now I have heard of Gilgandra...at least that is one place that rings a bell. LOL! I hope you are getting some rain down there. We have had some drizzle over the weekend and got about 1/2 inch. Better than nothing though.

  2. A couple of days rain on and off happening here but should be clear before we pack up camp. Gilgandra is in the central west of NSW at the intersection of the Newell, Castlereagh and Oxley Highways. On the Castlereagh River.

  3. You have quite a collection of Royal hotels!
I'm glad to see you're getting at least a little rain, though I don't care much to camp in it. But do enjoy your winter break! We've been self-quarantined now since March with few breaks beyond trips to the market. The pandemic here doesn't look to be under control anytime soon so I guess we're staying home for the time being.

    1. I guess we are glamping rather than camping. We have a well equipped caravan including en-suite with reverse cycle air conditioning so nice and warm. Only go out in the wet when we want to. There will be just two or three days of rain.

  4. Finally we have rain, too, and it´s getting warmer, yipeee!
The hotel looks good. We always slept in the car, though.

    1. The Royal Hotels are all really old. I think this one was closed though it is hard to tell with COVID shutting so many places down at the moment.

  5. Isn't it amazing the changes to the landscape after a bit of rain Joan Elizabeth. I'm with you as far as camping goes, it's glamping all the way 😉 That's a fabulous collection of Royals you have there ✨

    1. Green countryside is always much better. I’ve been collecting Royals for 10 years or so, still quite a few to go so I will have to keep travelling.

    1. Reminds me that I should water my garden in the summer time to continue the magic.
