Happy New Year

Christmas is packed up and the new year has begun.  Happy New Year!  It is belated and I missed sending Christmas greetings but I have a couple of excuses.

Just before Christmas we went on a wonderful trip right across Australia in the Indian Pacific.  We spent a week in Perth before getting on the train again and returning.  It was a wonderful trip which I would happily do again.  Unfortunately I picked up COVID on the return journey so have spent a week or so recuperating.  Now I am fit as a fiddle and ready to get into 2024.  I hope you all have a had a lovely Christmas and have a wonderful New Year ahead.

  1. That would have been a wonderful adventure and a great way to see the Nullarbor in the comfort of the Indian Pacific. Glad you have recovered from Covid. Happy New Year. Hope you have many more adventures in 2024.

  3. Your trip on the Indian Pacific sounds wonderful and would be so relaxing and interesting, very different from our driving trips. I hope you don't have any delayed effects from Covid. Wishng you a healthy and happy 2024.

    1. It is very different from driving, much more relaxing but you don't get to poke around all the small and interesting towns on the way.

  5. Happy New year to you, Joan. So sorry it kicked off with you recovering from Covid. Thank goodness you didn't suffer from it on your amazing Indian Pacific adventure. We have come home from WA via this means, but to go both ways would be awesome!

    1. I did actually got sick on the train but it didn't make the return journey uncomfortable or any less interesting for me. I missed out on the lovely meals and socialising but as I had enjoyed these on the first journey I actually preferred my solitude on the return leg. Doing it both ways was great. I felt bereft leaving the train in Perth but knew I was going to see all that majestic country again a week later.

    1. I remember the post you did on your Indian Pacific trip and decided to go with two single cabins rather than twin cabins. I think it was a good choice.
