A different rosella

Eastern Rosella

I showed Crimson Rosellas a couple of weeks ago. This week I got a photo of the Eastern Rosellas. They have a similar size and shape but different colouring to crimson rosellas.

  1. I am lucky to have the Eastern Rosellas visit my backyard quite often. I always get a thrill when I see them and generally manage to get a few photos to record their visit.

    1. I don’t often see them in the mountains but they are fairly common at Kandos. We see lots of crimsons in all 3 gardens. It is always lucky to have the beautiful birds visit.

  2. Completely different colouring. Love that you got a shot of the wings from the back.. red head and blue tail, stunning! Hope you are enjoying your weekend ✨

    1. The colouring is certainly different. They look green when they are flying.

  3. I only have two (or three) titmice eating at my "café" by the window, yellow ones.

    1. I had to look up the web to find out what titmice looked like. What lovely little birds. I would’ve delighted to have them by my window.

  4. Now I am not sure which rosella visits us. Tomorrow I join the count for Aussie backyard birds. I'm not sure how I will go at accurately naming them.

  5. So pretty! Your birds are so exotic compared to what we have in the northern hemisphere.

    1. I think many of yours are lovely too eg I think woodpeckers are exotic.

  6. Enjoyed seeing the back of the Rosella. We mostly get Crimsons down in East Gippsland.
