Cafe Madeline, Leura |
A trip to Leura is not complete without a stop at one of the many cafes.
Fast food chains are all but non existent in the Blue Mountains. There is one MacDonalds in the lower mountains, no KFC, an occasional Subway and just about nothing else. The idea is to keep more individual eating experiences in the mountains. If you are in Katoomba and in need of your favourite fast food fix then you have to drive to the bordering cities of Penrith or Lithgow a 40-50 km (30 mile) drive.
I don't think I have been to Cafe Madeline. I must check it out next time we are in Leura. It looks rather comfortable!
ReplyDeleteIt is down near the old church at bottom of the mall.
DeleteIt's nice that the smaller cafes can be allowed to flourish in that area :D)
ReplyDeleteCafes get to flourish all over the mountains. This is good because I am a cafe person.
DeleteWhy would one want a fast food fix with so many delightful coffee shops to choose from?
ReplyDeleteI dunno but lots of people do!
DeleteA cafe would have far more appeal.
ReplyDeleteI agree wholeheartedly
DeleteA good cafe is so much more homey and the food is usually worth stopping for.
ReplyDeleteThis one has good coffee and a very rich hot chocolate. I don’t think I have actually tried the food. I like the meals in a couple of cafes a bit further up the road.
DeleteOh, sadly we just went to the lookout to see The Three Sisters (in 1999) - and smell the eucalyptus, see the "blue air". We slept in the car and had a muesli in the morning. And a cuppa. If there is a next time I´ll remember your post!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to travel.
DeleteSuch a good idea Joan Elizabeth, good for cafes and restaurants in the area and definitely better for the digestion 😉
ReplyDeleteHadn’t thought of the digestion.
DeleteHopefully the council and residents can keep the fast food chains away forever! Meanwhile the Maccas at Lithgow makes a mint.
ReplyDeleteThey must be because I am told the numbers who go across to Lithgow is quite large.
