I love a stone church but also think the corrugated iron or timber ones you see out in the bush are special too. Brick ones in modern designs are not quite the same.
I think there might be a difference in church architecture between our countries. In north Amerca even the humblest of churches seem to have spires. That is not the case here.
A beautiful church, nicely lit. Spires are sometimes overrated. We have a couple here that have plopped premade ones onto their roofs. It seems immodest somehow.
A lovely stone church.

DeleteThe sunlight on the bricks is heavenly Joan Elizabeth ✨
ReplyDeleteSunlight has a way of making photographs heavenly. Ansil Adams spoke of the “ever-present benediction of light”.
DeleteIt reminds me of a couple of countryside churches I have known.

ReplyDeleteThis made me smile. A plopped on premade spire does seem a bit brash.
DeleteThere is something special about a stone church. They "feel" right.
ReplyDeleteIt feels right when I am worshiping as an Anglican, not so much so with other denominations.
