Old stuff 18

Last week I showed the vintage front door our our 1960s Kandos house I thought it would be fun to show you the front door of our much older 1890s mountains house.  The door is solid but rather simple with frosted glass and coloured glass panels at the top.  However the more obvious difference in this house is the very high ceiling, very long hallway and that the home is timber rather than bricks.

    1. I love the old timber mountains homes too. It was the closest thing I could be to an old Queenslander down south.

  2. We lived in an old weatherboard Californian Bungalow when we lived in Sydney. I love these old houses. However, there is a lot of upkeep and maintenance involved in timber homes. The outside painting alone was considerable.

    1. Tell me about it! That is one of the factors driving our move from this lovely home. As retirees the upkeep is too much and it is also too big for our long term needs. It’s time to pass it on to new stewards. But we are planning to transition over a couple of years giving us time to downsize etc.

    1. Our decor is getting simpler as we move things across to our Kandos home. Mind you the hallway has been looked pretty much like this all of the time we have been here - the artwork changed about according to my whim.

  4. It looks clean and tailored. Good luck with downsizing!

    1. Thanks. We have given ourselves plenty of time for the downsizing and need to wait for the real estate market to pick up again anyway.

    1. They sure will. I am not unduly disturbed about us leaving eventually. There are new exciting things in store.
